Hooter's Wings Oct. 15th, 2005 @ 10:16 pm
Tonight was LaCresha's birthday party. Happy Birthday LaCresha! LaCresha is from the South Side of Chicago. She does her thang thang. The wings weren't that good. I'm boycotting Hooters.

My name is Eric Hopkins. I'm from Upstate New York. I'm an aquarius

I hate Jules. She sucks ass. In fact, I wanna hit her with my car. But then there won't be a Service Leader for Manchester.

Psych, I love Jules. She kicks ass. I wish she was on my team, but she's not. I know who I would trade for her, too. Hmmmm...

So, life's good. I saw my amazing girlfriend the other day. Tonight, I'm chillin wit the boys. One is late. Mr. Wilhem is in the Dirrty South. Amsterdam is spazzin...

That's all for now.

Red Sox Oct. 1st, 2005 @ 05:29 pm
So last night I had the opportunity to go to the Red Sox yankee game with my amazing girl friend. we sat two rows back from the left field foul line, could practically touch Manny. I also was officially accepted as a City Year memeber yesterday in a ceramony held in Portsmouth NH. We also have a new addition to the 392 Dubuque family in the form of a boy kitten who's name is Amsterdam. On the second day he knew how to use the litter box, yeah we got a smart ass cat. So life is good, catch ya lata.

Servapalooza Sep. 23rd, 2005 @ 09:14 am
So yesterday I went to this big even hosted by timberland called servapalooza. I went to Lawrence MA for my site. We fixed up three really bad allys that were overgrown with all sorts of plant life and littered with so much garbage. I was a project coordinator/logistics. Basically that means that I have the responsibilty of one of the project coordinators as well as do all sorts of other things. I made sure there was enough water and ice for people so they didn't get dehydrated. I helped to set up and break down the main site as well as other sites, but I did the allys the day before. I also set up lunch and distributed the food that Timberland provided for a good 150+ people. So it was a long and rewarding day. And the biggest reward of all, Erin came to see me and stayed over the night. It's amazing how much I miss her when i'm gone and how hard it is to say goodbye to her when she has to leave. But that was my day, City Year is going great and i'm already thinking i'm gonna want to do another year of service. But for now I must get ready to work and deposit my first pay check in the real world.

Holla Sep. 20th, 2005 @ 10:20 am
So it's been a while since the update has happened on the journal that is live. I still don't have internet at the house and who knows when that will happen. We should be getting basic cable this week though, that will be exciting. So I was place in Nashua NH for my city year. I'm pretty excited about that. Seems like it could be a cool school to be in. I also was interviewed by big brothers big sisters yesterday so i'm excited to get a little. Other then that i've been hanging out, trying to see Erin as much as I can, and just enjoying the welfair life. Until later.

City Year Sep. 9th, 2005 @ 05:57 pm
So I am firmly planted into my new lifestyle as a non-college student. Well maybe semi-planted, I still have to get a bed, and put my clothes away, and get my bank account, but close enough. So I have just ended my first week with the City Year program and from first impressions this is gonna be a great year. Just the impact, and amount of service, and the quality of my co-workers has really made me excited about this upcoming year. So today I had my first day of actual service where we went to a camp and help to clean it up, move beds around, and make some new tables. It was a really great day, nice and sunny, not too warm, and the company was great. So next week we go on a camping trip up to a place called camp Barea or something like that up north. Up there I will find out who my team will be for the duration of my service as well as were I will be working. Right after I will be staying in a hotel with a few other core members to get up nice and early and help out at a race called reach the beach that starts up north on friday and ends sometime on saturday after relay teams of up to 12 memebers race over 200 miles in about 24 hours or so. So who knows when we will get internet and cable but hopefully that will be soon so I can update more often, and just be online and not so disconnected from the world. Anyways I will holla at you later.

So this past weekend I went up to NH to situate that apt. in manchvegas. Let me tell you, the thing is a friggin palace. You should be jealous that i'm paying only 250 a month for this piece, that's right, I said it. Anyways, I got about half my stuff in or so and helped pete move some of his stuff as well. I still need to set up my newly bought desk and chair though cause I didn't have a chance too since I had to sit myself out on my porch with the roomates and have some beer and pizza. Hey, I know what is important in life ya heard. Anyways so it looks like i'll be goin up on Saturday for good and i'll have to look around for a bed cause I don't have on yet, oh well, i'll just have to get drunk and sleep on the floor, I can handle that. Well i'm off to bed cause i'm lazy.

Fuckin amazing times let me tell you. So in a week or so i'll be moving to manchester with pete and mr. wilhelm to keep me company to do my service in americore. Now i'm gonna be dirt poor so feel free to send me gifts, you know you wanna. Anyways that's all I got time for at the moment but don't you worry, i'm back on the block and the journal shall be kept updated.

» good day
So today was a good day, nice sunny weather, new ping pong unit in school, and oh yeah, my first day umping behind the plate, ever. So to speak of the umping I spent two nice sunny warm hours watching the game I love from the best vantage point ever. I was initiated into the roll of the ump the right way taking a nice foul ball right off the mask, good darn times. Oh yeah, remember how I also got paid 50 bucks to do it.

» Good Times
So last night Dave and Jess came over to the room for a bit for some good old fashon hang out time. Had the Sox on, listened to some music, took some pics, beat Dave up, good times had by everyone. So today after a wonderfull bruch with Katie I went to see Fever Pitch with Jess. Great movie, if you are a sox fan, I suggest you see it as soon as possible, if your not, fuck you in the face. But seriously, if you don't like the Red Sox, stop sucking at life and see it anyways. So that's that, i'll be going out in a bit, maybe a little scorpion bowl action tonight. Until later,

» update time
so I havn't updated in a bit, lets see what's goin on. well i've been in the middle of a little live journal war, those are always fun. i'm in one with some anonymous kid right now, i'm just jokin around, but not sure about the other party, either way i'm entertained. anyways, elsewhere. the new student teaching site is awesome, i'm at gilford high school. we got trained a the new climbing wall that got put up in the middle school today, which happens to be connected to the high school. anthony sparazo is one of the teachers over there so it was good to see him, catch up a little. I actually climbed all the way to the top of it, I was proud of myself. anyways elsewheres, i've startedt o hit the gym again with pete and i'm feeling good about that. it's been a while since i've taken that up. else wheres, I gots myself good friends, an awesome girl, a great year shaping up for after graduation, and of course graduation, good times. the nice weather starting to come out is always nice as well. well that's all for now.

» holy crap
Yeah so today was my first day moving over to Gilford High School. Now I was really excited because it is an awesome school and my teacher seems really awesome. On my freakin way there I run into a mini snow storm driving on a road not meant for snow. As i'm goin around a corner, I guess a little fast but not bad, I hit a bad bump and tap on the breaks. Bad idea, my car starts spining too the right, now I turn the wheel the opposite way to try and composate but it's too late. So I turn the wheel the other way to try and just complete the turn as I run into a snow bank. Now the snow bank just ricoches me faster around and I have to turn the wheel really quick again and I gun the gas. Luckly I straighten out and am able to drive on. Now i'm a little shaky so I just keep on goin, I figure the car will have some dents and scrapes but I'll take a look at the school. Amazingly the outside looks perfect. Just the plastic under the front part of the bumper and the front left side light had some damage. I guess i'm lucky a car wasn't coming the other way, or that I just went over that snow bank into a tree. Well that's my story, got the good old adrenaline pumping for my first day, good times.

So things seem to be coming together as of late. I had a quality 2nd visit from my teacher and things seem to be going well in my student teaching. My middle school teacher bought me a sweatshirt and a card as a going away present, how awesome is that? As much as I don't really want to see this college part of my life come to an end I am psyched to get an apt. next year with pete and geoff, and apparently fo will be dropping in, good times. So this weekend I went up to maine with geoff and pete to visit fo at his place of higher learning. Great weekend, pete busted out some nice new songs, I got to carry a 30 around and get hassled by cops, we went to a sweet club where the bikini contest we went to see didn't start for like 2 hours, aka edawg and co got the fuck outta that piece. So we drank, and drank some more, and then, decided to drink again. So on sunday we came back and went to pete's practice, band is sounding tight, specially with that dirty new guitar player, even if he's in another band, he's awesome. Had a birthday dinner for nate, huge meatballs, good times. then did a little bowling action, hung out with amerin, who I did stiff earlier to go to OH, she gave me a good smack on the head for it. On top of it all i've been hanging out with a nice ladie and been having some good times, even if i'm kept up till all hours of the night. Anywyas, great weekend, good people, and now looks like the nice weather is upon us. good times ahead.

» snow day
now don't get me wrong, snow days are the shit, but christ list yourself earlier so I don't shower and get all ready to go. Ass's, heads will roll and throats will be cut. Anyways while I have the time i'll do a little update. Yesterday was a pretty good day. We had all new kids so all we had to do was set up attendance and give out locks and shit, easy. These kids seem like they will respond to me well. Side note, I was informed by a fellow student teacher that some of my kids from last rotation think i'm the coolest teacher ever, holla. So I started up on my bulletin board so that goods. I also got an article I sent into a local paper published, picture and all. I'm pretty proud of that, should look good in the old notebook. I also found a tight classic rock radio station, 101.5, I mean awesome songs all the time. If my dad was listening to a station where ever he is it would be this one. Anyways, time to hit the sack again, thx for listening, and thanx to all the friends who have put up with me over this past year and a half or so. I do appreciate and need it, I know I can be a bother, but you stick with me. Your good people.

I would like to thank the drunk ass holes who just rampaged my hall and woke me up out of a nice sleep. You are lucky your drunk ass's ran to whereever you went too. Pieces of rabbid mules semen. Sweet now the elevators alarm is ringing. edawg is not a happy camper.
» Superman
So as I was driving back up to plymouth I had a lot of shit on my mind. I got some really bad news while I was home and I really havn't been in the best mood. But let me tell you about how a simple billboard can lift someone up, even if it's just for a little bit. So I was driving through whiteham, or something like that, new york and I saw a christopher reeve sign. Now on it it had a picture of him with the word Super Man next too it, two words. Under super man it said strength in bright red. Then in black it said pass it on. Now maybe i'm just a big fuckin loser but I love christopher reeve, not only for his roll as superman, but also for his fight against his odds. He was a good man and is missed by many people. This one's to you Mr. Reeves, the real life superman.

» 700
Well I sat with 32,804 fans today to watch three awesome seniors play their last games in the dome and give Jimmy B. his 700th win. The game was pretty close through the first half with SU up by 4 at the half. After a couple minutes into the 2nd half Syracuse started to pull away with and athletic dunk show put on by Warrick on his way to a 36 point performance. After the win there was a cool little ceramony and video to celebrate Boeheim's win. We also had a good amount of lake effect snow which I always love. It should make for some good powder and a great day of skiing tomorrow. So I rented friday night lights and watched that with my mom, great movie. Then we watched butterfly effect off the dvr, digital cable it fuckin tit by the way. Overall, a good day, now I must rest for skiing tomorrow.
